Minecraft Dungeons 2 Arrives as a Day-One Xbox Game Pass Launch

Minecraft Dungeons 2 has launched as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title, bringing open-world exploration and deeper loot mechanics to the co-op action RPG.

Mojang and Double Eleven are back with Minecraft Dungeons 2, landing directly on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Series X/S users. As the twelfth and final new addition to the subscription service for September 2026, the game serves as the 142nd platform release of the year. Originally announced earlier this year, the sequel builds on the massive success of the 2020 original, which crossed twenty-five million players.

While the first game relied on a straightforward mission-based structure, the sequel trades it for a sprawling, interconnected open world. Players can now explore quests, hidden dungeons, side paths, and an entirely new realm called the Sift dimension. The update also introduces basic jumping mechanics alongside expanded character builds and deeper loot systems, keeping the action RPG accessible while adding much-needed variety for group play.

Accessibility remains a core pillar, but the shift toward a more robust classless system gives co-op squads plenty of room to experiment with new weapons and enemy types. Subscribers using the Ultimate tier can jump in immediately across console, PC, and cloud streaming. Meanwhile, the broader service roadmap continues to pack out the autumn schedule with major heavy hitters arriving over the coming weeks, according to reporting by GameRant.
