MindsEye's Making a Comeback? Roadmap Reveals Fixes and a Delayed Hitman, Bloody Hell!

MindsEye, after a rocky launch, is getting a roadmap of updates aimed at fixing its issues, including performance improvements and gameplay enhancements, but the Hitman crossover has been delayed to focus on these core fixes.

Right, so MindsEye, the debut title from Build a Rocket Boy – you know, Leslie Benzies' (ex-Rockstar guru) new venture – didn't exactly land gracefully, did it? Technical glitches, confusing design, and a general 'meh' feeling left a lot of gamers (and apparently, over 100 Build a Rocket Boy employees) feeling rather deflated. Game Rant reports that the studio is now desperately trying to salvage the situation with a roadmap of future updates.

Benzies, bless his heart, seems to be channeling his inner phoenix. Apparently, there's been talk of a relaunch, and it seems that plan is now taking shape. Build A Rocket Boy took to Reddit (of all places!) to announce two upcoming updates promising "more meaningful changes." Colour me intrigued.

Update 4, slated for August, is all about smoothing things out. Think performance improvements, skippable cutscenes (hallelujah!), and instant access to player-created content on PC. Sounds promising, but the real test will be whether they can deliver. Update 5 in September is supposed to be where the magic happens, with enhancements to the core gameplay mechanics. Specifics are still a bit hazy, which is either exciting or worrying – I reckon we'll find out soon enough.

Now, here's the slightly bad news. That much-hyped Hitman crossover mission featuring Agent 47? Delayed indefinitely. Originally penciled in for July, it's been punted down the road until "the time is right," which, let's be honest, probably means until they've wrestled the game into a respectable state. It's a shame, as a stealthy assassin could have spiced things up, but it’s understandable. Gotta fix the foundation before you start adding fancy wallpaper, right?

This whole situation begs the question: why didn't they just delay the launch in the first place? Launching in September, as many have suggested, would have given them more time to polish things and avoid the reputational battering and those aforementioned layoffs. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say. Is a Cyberpunk 2077-style redemption arc possible? Maybe. A No Man's Sky-level turnaround? Possibly. But, mate, it's going to take a bloody miracle. I'll be watching with cautiously optimistic eyes, though.
