Two decades after the Disney Channel pilot first aired, the cultural phenomenon that shaped a generation is getting a proper retrospective. Disney recently dropped the official trailer for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, confirming a March 24 streaming debut on both Disney Plus and Hulu. For anyone who grew up watching the double life unfold on screen, the upcoming special shapes up as a major nostalgic milestone.
The project leans heavily into creator culture and long-form interviews, featuring Miley Cyrus sitting down with Unwell podcast host Alex Cooper for an in-depth conversation. Beyond the sit-down, the production includes behind-the-scenes access to Cyrus and her personal archival collection, guest appearances from familiar faces, and a brand-new musical performance. It is a full circle moment for a franchise that helped define early digital-era entertainment long before streaming dominated our screens.
Produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions with Ashley Edens as showrunner, the anniversary special recognizes the massive ongoing community footprint of the series. While it is not a playable game or a virtual world crossover, the cross-platform streaming release ensures fans across every device can tune in together.
