Atala Studio's acclaimed turn-based RPG is making the jump to Nintendo hardware. During the June 2026 Nintendo Direct presentation, an official announcement trailer confirmed that Metaphor: ReFantazio is officially heading to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. For players who prefer their expansive single-player epics on portable hardware or hybrid setups, this brings one of recent gaming's standout narrative experiences to Nintendo's next-generation platform.
While the original release found a massive audience across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, bringing a massive RPG of this scale to Nintendo's successor console highlights the growing hardware capability of the platform. It also speaks to the ongoing industry shift where major third-party releases no longer skip Nintendo ecosystems, giving cross-platform players more flexibility in where they choose to invest their hundred-plus hour playthroughs.
As we get closer to launch, players will be watching closely to see how the performance holds up on portable hardware and whether any special features are included for the new system. You can check out the full announcement trailer over at IGN South Africa to see how the title's striking visual style translates to the upcoming hardware.
