Meta announced the Muse Charm at its Connect event, a Tamagotchi-inspired handheld device designed to let users access its agentic AI assistant on the go without a smartphone.
During the recent Meta Connect event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced a new standalone hardware accessory called the Meta Muse Charm. As reported by GameRant, the compact device bears a strong visual resemblance to a classic Tamagotchi or a strap-free Apple Watch. It is designed to let users interact directly with Meta Muse, the company's new agentic AI assistant, without needing to pull out a smartphone or wear smart glasses.
The Muse Charm features a built-in screen that displays the Muse Realtime Avatar, alongside a camera, a microphone, and native 5G connectivity. Users can activate the device quickly by pressing a thumbprint sensor located in the corner. While standard chatbots primarily respond to prompts, Meta Muse is built to handle complex, automated tasks on behalf of the user, such as managing emails, navigating social media posts, and handling online purchases.
Hardware attempts to bring artificial intelligence off the phone have faced a rocky road in recent years, most notably with the commercial failure of the Humane AI Pin. Meta has not yet disclosed pricing for the Muse Charm, but the company has stated that it plans to ship the device by December. With free AI interactions limited behind subscription paywalls, adoption will likely depend heavily on the final retail cost and how well the hardware performs in everyday use.
