Mega Crit Adjusts Slay the Spire 2 Beta Following Community Feedback on Card Nerfs

Mega Crit has updated the Slay the Spire 2 Steam beta, rolling back controversial card nerfs for the Silent and Necrobinder classes and adjusting boss mechanics following player feedback.

Developer Mega Crit has already rolled back several contentious card nerfs in the latest Slay the Spire 2 Steam beta patch, responding directly to community feedback from players testing the roguelite deckbuilder's early access build. The initial balancing update aimed to curb infinite turn combos by weakening various cards, which triggered immediate discussion and some friction within the player base. Fortunately, the development team is showing a willingness to iterate quickly while the game remains in early access testing.

The new beta patch brings immediate relief for mains of the Silent and Necrobinder classes. Popular tools like the Silent character's Prepared card have returned to their original draw and discard functionality, and Serpent Form now hits harder. Necrobinder players also get a reprieve as restrictions on Capture Spirit and Borrowed Time are lifted, though lead designer Anthony Giovannetti noted that reworks might still happen down the road. Meanwhile, the Ironclad received buffs for Exhaust builds, and the Regent class got a comprehensive tune-up across its arsenal. Beyond character balancing, the patch addresses major pain points in enemy design and map flow. The Doormaker boss is now more predictable and less punishingly random, while the Skulking Colony has been dialed back significantly. Additionally, map generation fixes mean elites will no longer spawn on the opening floor due to a previous counting error with Neow.
