McDonald's Introduces the Archie Peripheral to Keep Players Active During Meal Breaks

McDonald's Türkiye has released the Archie, a controller peripheral designed to keep your character moving while you step away to eat a meal.

Fast food giant McDonald's has found yet another way to bridge the gap between real-world dining and online gaming. McDonald's Türkiye recently unveiled the Archie, a novel controller peripheral designed to prevent players from going AFK while they step away to eat a Big Mac. Shaped like the brand's iconic golden arches, the device bridges a controller's analog sticks to keep characters moving in lobbies or safe zones, sparing players from timeout penalties or session disconnects during crucial matches.

According to a press release highlighted by Eurogamer and originally covered by IGN, the device is being bundled exclusively with the new Pro Gamer Menu. This specialized meal package includes a Big Mac, medium fries, a drink, and onion rings. Özde Özden Artak, CMO of McDonald's Türkiye, noted that the company built the peripheral around actual player behavior, observing how gamers constantly look for workarounds to maintain their status during necessary meal breaks.

While the Archie is currently exclusive to Türkiye, it highlights an ongoing trend of major brands targeting the gaming demographic through practical and novelty hardware partnerships. It follows other recent high-profile crossovers, such as McDonald's collaboration with Capcom in Japan for Street Fighter themed burgers and in-game cosmetics. For players who refuse to log off even for dinner, this peculiar piece of hardware offers a direct physical solution.
