Maul's Back, Baby! Plus, Ezra Gets a Makeover: Star Wars News Out of SDCC 2025

Lucasfilm revealed first looks at Darth Maul in his upcoming Disney+ series and Ezra Bridger's new costume in *Ahsoka* Season 2 at SDCC 2025, setting the stage for a galaxy of new content in the years to come. Looks like Star Wars fans are going to be eating well!

Right, so Lucasfilm just dropped a couple of juicy Star Wars teases at SDCC 2025, and fair dinkum, they've got my hyperdrive buzzing! (Big thanks to IGN South Africa for being on the ground and scooping this stuff up – Wesley Yin-Poole, you're a legend!).

First up, we're getting a brand-new Disney+ series called *Maul – Shadow Lord*. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Another Star Wars series?" But hold on, this one’s got Darth Maul, voiced (again!) by the ever-brilliant Sam Witwer. Witwer *is* Maul for a whole generation, innit? It’s set after *The Clone Wars*, so expect a darker, grittier vibe as Maul tries to rebuild his criminal empire on some backwater planet the Empire hasn’t stomped all over yet. Sounds like a recipe for some proper space opera shenanigans, doesn't it?

Think *The Mandalorian*, but instead of a cute green fella, we've got a Sith Lord with serious anger management issues. What could possibly go wrong? I reckon this has the potential to be something special if they lean into the morally grey aspects. Could be a fantastic study into villainy. Or maybe, just maybe, it'll be another excuse for lightsaber battles. Either way, I’m in!

The series is slated for 2026, so we've got a bit of a wait, but hey, good things come to those who wait, right? (Unless you're waiting for a balanced loot system. Then you're probably buggered).

But that's not all, mate! We also got a first look at Ezra Bridger's new threads for *Ahsoka* Season 2. Eman Esfandi is back as Ezra, and he’s rocking a slightly different look. I must admit, he looks pretty swish. It’s a bit more mature, a bit more Jedi Knight-y. Speaking of Jedi Knights, Hayden Christensen is also returning as Anakin Skywalker in Season 2. So expect some serious feels and potentially some flashbacks that'll make you reach for the tissues.

*Ahsoka* Season 2 is currently in production, so hopefully, we won't have to wait too long to see Ezra kicking arse and taking names again. It will be interesting to see how they explain Anakin's role, though. Flashbacks are a given. Is it a force ghost thing? Is Ahsoka seeing visions of her old master. We'll have to wait and see, I reckon.

Oh, and before I forget, we've got *Star Wars: Visions* Season 3 coming in October, *The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie* in May 2026, and *Star Wars: Starfighter* in May 2027. Bloody hell, Lucasfilm is keeping us busy!
