A new official trailer for The Rivals of Amziah King reveals a rural crime thriller starring Matthew McConaughey and Kurt Russell, set for an August 14 theatrical release.
The official trailer for The Rivals of Amziah King has arrived, offering a first look at a gritty crime drama distributed by Black Bear. Directed by Andrew Patterson and written by James Montague alongside Patterson, the film drops audiences straight into the rural backwoods of Oklahoma. The story centers on Amziah King, a charismatic and musically gifted figure who leads a bluegrass band while running the premier honey-making operation in the area. When his estranged foster daughter unexpectedly returns, Amziah tries to repair old bonds and build a lasting family business.
Things quickly get complicated because the regional honey trade is far more ruthless than it sounds. Rival operations threaten to tear down everything Amziah has worked to establish. The heavy-hitting cast features Matthew McConaughey, Angelina LookingGlass, Kurt Russell, Cole Sprouse, Tony Revolori, and Owen Teague.
For those tracking major cinematic releases that lean into intense character dynamics and atmospheric storytelling, this one is worth putting on the radar. The original trailer was recently shared by IGN South Africa, highlighting the film ahead of its theatrical debut on August 14. You can check out the full preview directly over at IGN South Africa.
