Marvel Unlimited is shutting down in late 2026 after 19 years, making way for a new app powered by Webtoon that features faster issue releases and tiered pricing options.
An era in digital reading is coming to an end. According to IGN South Africa, Marvel Unlimited will officially shut down on December 17, 2026, after a 19 year run. New subscriptions end immediately, and the platform will be replaced by a new service called Marvel Comics Powered by Webtoon, which launches on November 16, 2026. Existing subscribers get free access until the final shutdown date alongside prorated refunds for any remaining subscription value.
Migrating your digital collection over should be straightforward, though exact mechanics are still under wraps. Subscribers will receive instructions via email and in-app messages on how to transfer their library and reading progress to the new Webtoon ecosystem. There is a month of overlap between the new app launch and the old app closure to ensure a smooth transition for everyone.
Pricing structure remains relatively familiar, with a Base tier costing $9.99 a month for access to the full library and new issues arriving 90 days after print. For a faster turnaround, the Ultimate tier costs $12.49 a month and drops the wait time for new issues down to just 30 days. Early adopters can also grab a discounted annual option for the Ultimate tier, giving dedicated fans a cheaper entry point before standard renewals kick in later.
