Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls director Kazuto Sekine has announced upcoming patches to address widespread complaints about assist spam and PC performance issues, while leaving character balance untouched for now.
Arc System Works is planning major updates for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls to tackle the community's biggest complaints. In a recent developer update reported by Polygon, game director Kazuto Sekine promised that upcoming patches will increase assist cooldowns to curb the relentless spam that currently dominates matches. Beyond the chaotic screen clutter, the team is also working on input system adjustments so players no longer need to hold buttons to buffer attacks, aiming to make the core fighting mechanics much smoother on both PC and PS5.
While the planned gameplay tweaks are a step in the right direction, the game still faces an uphill battle regarding its technical state. According to Polygon, the PC port launched with severe performance issues that have severely impacted its player base on Steam. Despite a few patches, active player counts remain notably low compared to other fighting game staples on the market. The developer has confirmed that ongoing performance improvements for the PC version are still a top priority for the team.
Interestingly, the studio is taking a measured approach to character balance while these technical and system fixes are rolled out. Sekine noted that every single fighter currently sits comfortably within a 48 to 52 percent win rate, meaning hasty character nerfs or buffs are off the table for now. For a genre where tier lists usually dictate the meta, this data-driven restraint is a refreshing strategy that gives the community room to properly explore the roster.
