Marvel Rivals Is Dropping a Massive 50-Player Endgame Mode to Fight Thanos

Marvel Rivals is launching a massive 50-player PvE mode on October 22 that lets fans recreate the iconic final battle against Thanos from Avengers: Endgame.

NetEase is dialing the scale up to an entirely new level for Marvel Rivals. According to a recent report from Polygon, the hero shooter is rolling out a massive fifty player PvE mode on October 22. Titled Path to Doomsday, the event recreates the iconic final showdown from Avengers: Endgame. Players will drop straight into the ruins of the Avengers Compound to take on Thanos and his army. According to creative director Guangyun Chen, the experience even incorporates classic cinematic beats, giving the community a chance to live out one of the biggest moments in modern blockbuster history.

This blockbuster showdown is just one piece of a packed update calendar for Season 10.5. The patch also introduces an Infinity War themed two versus two mode on October 9, where duos draft upgrades and battle for control of opposing Infinity Stones. Later in the month, players can dive into a suspenseful interactive puzzle mode called Night of Illusions, alongside a fresh wave of seasonal Halloween skins. Meanwhile, the larger eighteen versus eighteen Annihilation mode is expanding with a brand new Alchemax Headquarters map.

The massive influx of new modes comes at an interesting time for the community. NetEase recently shook up the rhythm of the game by slowing down hero releases after a lengthy run of monthly character drops. While some players naturally miss the steady stream of new fighters, events of this scale prove the developers are focusing heavily on fresh ways to play. Bringing fifty players together in a single cooperative battle pushes the technical limits of the genre, and it gives the community a massive social set piece to stream and grind together.
