Marvel Rivals Gets Beach Bod Ready: Summer Event Incoming (Speedos Optional)

Marvel Rivals is heating up with a Summer Special event, featuring some…interesting…skin choices, including The Thing in a Speedo (no, really) and a collaboration with the new Fantastic Four flick.
Alright, listen up, Marvel brawlers! NetEase Games is apparently feeling the summer heat because *Marvel Rivals* is about to get a whole lot more…sunburnt? According to a recent post (spotted by our mates at Game Rant), they're dropping a Summer Special event on July 17th, and honestly, some of these skin choices are… well, let's just say they’re making some *bold* creative decisions.
First up, we've got Luna Snow rockin' a "Cool Summer" swimsuit, which sounds pretty standard, right? Then things take a turn. The Thing is apparently ditching the rock exterior for a *tiny* black Speedo and lei in his "Sunshine Thing" getup. Look, I get it, Ben Grimm wants to feel the sun, but a Speedo? Really? I can't unsee this. Can anyone?
But wait, there’s a freebie! Thor's getting a "Worthy Waves" skin, complete with swim trunks, shades, and a headband. Much more reasonable, eh? And thankfully less scarring. (Still picturing The Thing in a Speedo... someone send help!)
The event itself runs until August 15th, and it features a pass with both free and paid cosmetics. Shelling out for the premium version gets you permanent access, so you can grind it out at your own pace. They haven't said how much the premium pass will cost yet, but fair warning: don't expect it to be pocket change.
Psylocke and Loki are also getting summer skins, arriving in the shop on July 17th. Psylocke's got a "Breezy Butterfly" swimsuit, while Loki's sporting a "Robe of Relaxation" – a green robe and wide-brimmed hat combo that actually sounds pretty chill. Now *that's* a vacation vibe I can get behind.
And because Marvel's synergy department never sleeps, the Season 3 roadmap also teases a collaboration with the upcoming *Fantastic Four: First Steps* movie, dropping on July 25th. Expect new cosmetics and a Thing/Human Torch team-up. Because, you know, the Speedo wasn't enough Thing content for one summer.
So, is this summer event going to be a blast or a belly flop? Time will tell. But one thing's for sure: I'll never look at The Thing the same way again. And I might need therapy.
