Marvel Rivals Gets a July Patch: Phoenix Skins, Twitch Drops, and Hulk's Stairway Shenanigans!

Marvel Rivals is getting a patch with new Phoenix-themed skins for Black Panther and Magik, a free Star-Lord skin via Twitch drops, and fixes for Hela's ultimate and Hulk's stairway antics – all without any server downtime!

Right, Marvel Rivals fans, gather 'round! NetEase Games just dropped the patch notes for the July 31st update, and while it's not quite as earth-shattering as a Hulk smash, there are some goodies worth a look-see. (Original source: Game Rant)

First up, we're getting some slick new skins. Black Panther's rocking a 'Phoenix Panther' look – think golden armor and a flaming crown. Magik's channeling her inner fire demon with the 'Phoenix Demon' costume, all black leather and fiery chest emblem. No word yet on how much these will set you back in the in-game shop, but they land on August 1st, so keep an eye out!

But wait, there's more! A free Star-Lord skin is up for grabs as part of the 'Ignite Series'. All you gotta do is park yourself in front of the Marvel Rivals IGNITE Mid-Season Finals on Twitch for four hours. Yep, four whole hours. But hey, free skin, right? Plus, you can snag sprays, nameplates, and even an emote for your viewing pleasure. Drops go live August 6th, so set a reminder!

Now, onto the fixes. Remember that exploit where you could use costume-exclusive emotes on any old skin by binding them to a key? Yeah, they squashed that bug. No more emote anarchy! They've also tackled a frustrating issue with Hela's ultimate ability. Apparently, if you unleashed her wrath while being launched up with dodgy network conditions, it could fizzle out prematurely. Now, even lag can't stop the Queen of Hel. (Though, I reckon some of us have seen worse lag-related shenanigans, fair dinkum.)

And speaking of hilarious mishaps, Hulk had a bit of a stairway to heaven (or hell, depending on the jump) problem. His 'Incredible Leap' could go a bit wonky on stairs if the camera was tilted too far down, sending him off in unexpected directions. Picture it: Hulk, raging, but also slightly confused about which way is up. Luckily, that's sorted now. No more stair-based humiliation for the big green fella.

Console players on PlayStation, take note: they've fixed a rare bug that could trap you in the Highlights screen after watching a replay. No more highlight purgatory!

Finally, they've sorted a couple of minor niggles regarding Accessory Points in Competitive matches and controller sensitivity messing with hero keybinds. All in all, a solid little patch to keep things ticking over nicely.

No server downtime is required for this update, so just download it and reboot your client. Easy peasy. NetEase Games reckon there's plenty more to come, so stay tuned for further announcements. Sounds promising, doesn't it? Let's just hope they can keep the content flowing and avoid any… let's say… *unforeseen* consequences. After all, even the best spells can backfire, right?
