Marvel Rivals Dips its Toes in the Water: Psylocke & Loki Get Summer Skins (But is Wolverine Too OP?)

Marvel Rivals is getting some summer skins for Psylocke and Loki, but a new Jean Grey/Wolverine team-up is causing some balance concerns amongst players. Plus, Blade is coming in the Season 3.5 update!

Right, so Marvel Rivals is chucking some summer vibes our way, and I gotta say, it's about bloody time we saw some poolside shenanigans in a hero shooter. NetEase Games just dropped a sneak peek at the upcoming summer swimsuit skins for Psylocke and Loki, and they're hitting the in-game shop on July 17th. Psylocke's rocking the "Breezy Butterfly" look – teal swimsuit, purple top, the works. Loki, never one to be outdone, is lounging in his "Robe of Relaxation," complete with green swim trunks, a swanky robe, and a dragon casually draped across his shoulders. Very subtle, Loki, very subtle.

But hold on, before we all rush off to virtual beach parties, there's a wrinkle in the sand. Season 3 of Marvel Rivals dropped recently, bringing Jean Grey (aka the Duelist Phoenix) into the fray. Now, a new team-up between Jean and Wolverine is causing a bit of a stir, with some players reckon it makes Wolverine a bit too... stab-happy, let's say. Apparently, his Feral Leap ability gets a fiery upgrade, dealing percentage damage and granting him lifesteal. So, he's hitting harder *and* healing faster. Sounds balanced, right? (Spoiler: Some players are saying it's not.)

It's a classic case of "cool new feature" potentially unbalancing the meta. Sound familiar? We've seen this dance before in plenty of hero shooters. But what does this mean for the average player? Well, if you're a Wolverine main, you're probably grinning like a Cheshire cat. If you're facing a flaming, lifestealing Wolverine, you might be reaching for the rage quit button.

NetEase Games also teased the arrival of these summer costumes in the roadmap for Season 3 of Marvel Rivals , which included new skins for Thor and Luna Snow as well. The roadmap also gave players a first look at upcoming skins for Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, and Human Torch, which will be modeled after their appearance in the upcoming MCU film The Fantastic Four: First Steps . As part of the collaboration, Human Torch and The Thing will be receiving a new team-up on July 25.

Looking ahead, the Season 3.5 update is slated for August 8th, and it's bringing Blade into the mix – a character fans have been waiting for since Season 1. So, despite the Wolverine wobble, there's still plenty to look forward to. New skins, new characters, potentially unbalanced team-ups… It's all part of the Marvel Rivals experience, innit?
