Marvel has announced that Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle will return in a Disney Plus TV special titled The Punisher: One Last Kill, arriving on May 12 right after the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again season two.
Marvel is expanding its streaming footprint once again, setting a May 12 release date for a dedicated Punisher TV special on Disney Plus. Titled The Punisher: One Last Kill, the upcoming Marvel Television Special Presentation drops exactly one week after the season two finale of Daredevil: Born Again. Jon Bernthal is back in the lead role, continuing his gritty tenure as Frank Castle following his setup in the first season of Born Again and subsequent tease involving Mayor Wilson Fisk's task force. For community members tracking the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe rollout, the scheduling immediately invites speculation about how heavily street level heroes will cross over before the summer blockbuster window opens.
The timing creates some fascinating narrative puzzles for fans who follow every corner of the interconnected slate. With Charlie Cox's Daredevil assembling allies like Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones to counter Fisk, the special could function as a vital narrative bridge or a post season epilogue. At the same time, the subtitle One Last Kill carries some heavy implications that do not entirely line up with the broader theatrical calendar. Bernthal is already confirmed to appear in July's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, featuring prominently in early trailers and seemingly adapting classic animated dynamics where Castle hunts down a mutated Peter Parker.
For players and pop culture fans who treat transmedia universes as ongoing serialized events, these tight release schedules highlight how modern franchises rely on cross platform synergy. Whether the special serves as a definitive standalone story or a direct setup for the cinematic side of the universe, it gives streaming subscribers plenty of lore to unpack before the summer movie season kicks off.
