Nintendo's latest update for Mario Kart World introduces two new Knockout Tour routes, Photo Mode stickers, and balance adjustments for acceleration and gliding speeds.
Nintendo is keeping the momentum going for its latest kart racer with a fresh patch for Switch 2 players. According to a report by Sherif Saed over at Eurogamer, update version 1.7.0 for Mario Kart World brings two brand new Knockout Tour routes to the table. Players can now tackle Drill Rally, which bridges Wario Shipyard and Bowser's Castle, alongside Boomerang Rally, an A-shaped track connecting Salty Salty Speedway and Whistlestop Summit. These additions bring the total count of Knockout Tour routes to ten, giving the community more variety in this elimination-style mode.
Beyond the new tracks, the update also expands the game's Photo Mode by letting racers place collected stickers and combine them with custom frames. This addition taps directly into the sharing culture that dominates modern gaming, giving creators and casual players alike another way to show off their best moments. Following earlier multiplayer integration for the mode, Nintendo is clearly listening to player feedback to keep the game social and engaging.
Under the hood, the patch adjusts vehicle balance as well. Characters and vehicles that previously suffered from low acceleration now enjoy faster performance, while high-speed characters receive a noticeable gliding boost. These tweaks aim to level the playing field across different kart builds, ensuring more competitive lobbies for everyone jumping online.
