Mapping Out the Next Era of DC Studios Across Film and TV

DC Studios has detailed its expansive lineup of upcoming movies and television shows stretching through 2028, featuring new takes on Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and more.
DC Studios co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are continuing to roll out their expansive roadmap for the reimagined DC Universe, spanning theatrical releases and streaming projects all the way through 2028 and beyond. Following initial launches like the animated series Creature Commandos, the studio is steadily building a massive interconnected media ecosystem. The upcoming slate includes high-profile series like the slow-burn cosmic cop drama Lanterns on HBO Max and the mockumentary-style comedy The People v. Gorilla Grodd, which brings Jimmy Olsen back into the spotlight.
The cinematic side of the DCU is similarly stacked, mixing major tentpoles with unexpected genre experiments. The Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow is slated for a 2027 release, bringing back David Corenswet alongside a massive ensemble cast to face off against Brainiac. Meanwhile, filmmaker Mike Flanagan is bringing a gritty, body-horror angle to the universe with a standalone Clayface movie, and Matt Reeves is continuing his separate Bat-verse continuity with the eventual release of The Batman Part 2.
Beyond these dated projects, the studio has several ambitious concepts in active development that show just how wide the net is being cast. Fans can look forward to everything from animated adaptations of beloved comic runs like Mister Miracle to live-action plans for The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and even a team-up film featuring Bane and Deathstroke. While superhero fatigue is a constant conversation in modern pop culture, DC is clearly trying to diversify its output by leaning into distinct creative voices across film and television.
