Magic: The Gathering is already planning an encore for its upcoming KPop Demon Hunters Secret Lair collaboration, pointing toward more cards and potential expansions inspired by the hit Netflix film.
Following the massive cultural footprint left by Sony Animation and Netflix's 2025 animated film KPop Demon Hunters, Wizards of the Coast is leaning hard into the franchise. Polygon reports that the upcoming Secret Lair Corn Maze Superdrop on October 12 will feature the initial KPop Demon Hunters crossover, but official channels have already confirmed that an encore release is currently in development. Given the film's massive streaming success and the quick turnaround on everything from fast food tie-ins to Lego sets, this expanded tabletop presence feels entirely earned for a world where K-pop groups battle demons through music.
The initial drop titled How It is Done only scratches the surface of what the movie's soundtrack and lore can offer the card game. Fans are already looking ahead to potential future waves, hoping for dedicated cards centered around other hit tracks like Golden and Takedown, or a proper spotlight on the Saja Boys and beloved animal companions like Derpy. Considering the success of previous music-focused collaborations like the Hatsune Miku Secret Lair deck, expanding this partnership into full Commander deck territory makes complete sense for collectors and players alike.
This crossover also aligns well with recent shifts in the Universes Beyond strategy. After some community pushback regarding superhero and comic book crossovers, players have responded much more favorably to genre-fitting fantasy elements. By bringing the vibrant universe of Huntr/x and their mystical battles into the realm of card game mechanics, this ongoing collaboration proves that pop culture crossovers work best when they match the thematic energy of the game they are joining.
