New leaks indicate a preconstructed Spider-Man Commander deck is heading to Magic: The Gathering this December, complete with alternative heroes and a fully-foil collector option.
Fresh leaks rolling out across social media suggest that Magic: The Gathering is finally giving Marvel's web-slinger the preconstructed treatment he missed out on during last year's Universes Beyond rollout. According to leaked distributor details shared by the account @MTGOSalseo, a dedicated Spider-Man Commander deck is slated to drop on December 4. While the initial September 2025 set skipped the format entirely due to a rushed development pivot, lead designer Mark Rosewater previously hinted that the popular multiplayer staple could still happen down the line.
The rumored deck rolls out in a Jeskai color identity, pairing white, blue, and red, with Peter Parker stepping up as the main Commander alongside alternative options for Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. The leaked configuration packs fifty cards featuring fresh artwork, splitting the contents between thirty brand-new cards and twenty thematic reprints pulled from previous Marvel collaborations. Collectors also appear to have a premium tier on the horizon, with reports pointing to a fully-foil Collector Edition featuring the striking surge foil treatment.
For a community that treats Commander as the ultimate social format, the absence of a localized New York hero deck was a glaring omission when the crossover first landed. Competitive circles might have mixed feelings on the wider Universes Beyond integrations, but Commander remains the economic powerhouse of modern tabletop play. If these holiday release rumors hold up, players will soon have a fresh themed list ready for casual tables and local game store meetups right before the year wraps up.
