Magic: The Gathering is launching a Masters of the Universe Secret Lair drop featuring an incredible double-sided Castle Grayskull Command Tower and classic '80s character reskins.
Wizards of the Coast is leaning hard into Saturday morning nostalgia with its latest Secret Lair Superdrop, bringing Masters of the Universe to Magic: The Gathering. As Polygon originally reported, the upcoming crossover features a massive lineup of reskins inspired by the classic animation and toy packaging of the iconic franchise. While many limited card drops focus purely on driving down the secondary market price of high-value staples, this collection takes a different approach by celebrating style, personality, and pure aesthetic flavor for cards that millions of players already own.
The standout piece of the drop is an incredible new full-art version of Command Tower, an absolute staple in the popular Commander format. This iteration features Castle Grayskull on the front and flips over to reveal Snake Mountain on the back, giving players a seamless way to showcase their allegiance to either good or evil right on the tabletop. Alongside the skull fortress, the five-card "Sold Separately" bundle includes thoughtful reskins like Sword of War and Peace transforming into the Sword of Power, plus mechanical upgrades for cards like Fortune, Loyal Steed and The Gitrog.
Beyond pure cosmetics, the Superdrop includes a few solid reprints with respectable secondary market value, such as Sakashima the Impostor stepping in as Man-E-Faces alongside solid inclusions like Emiel the Blessed and Breach the Multiverse. Priced at $29.99 for nonfoil and $39.99 for foil when it launches on September 14, the drop offers a fun mix of nostalgia and utility. For a format where self-expression and deck identity mean everything, upgrading your mana base to look like Eternia's most famous landmark is an easy win for the community.
