Mortal Kombat 2 star Ludi Lin recently sat down with IGN South Africa to react to the internet's best memes, celebrating the community humor surrounding the iconic fighting franchise.
Mortal Kombat has always occupied a massive space in internet culture, and the community loves translating that chaos into pure comedy. Recently, IGN South Africa sat down with Ludi Lin, the actor bringing Earthrealm champion Liu Kang to life in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 film, to walk him through some of the fandom's funniest creations. From classic jokes about Shang Tsung stealing souls to wholesome breakdowns of iconic friendship finishers, Lin reacted to the exact kind of community-driven content that keeps these franchises alive between major releases.
It is always refreshing to see blockbuster talent lean directly into the absurdity and passion of online gaming spaces. Instead of a standard promotional interview, this kind of creator and actor crossover highlights how deeply today's entertainment landscape relies on shared community jokes. When actors actively engage with fan edits and memes, it bridges the gap between massive studio productions and the grassroots fan culture thriving on TikTok, YouTube, and X.
As we get closer to the premiere of Mortal Kombat 2, marketing campaigns that respect and amplify the player base always resonate better than traditional press tours. Lin taking the time to review the community's best jokes shows a real understanding of the modern fandom. You can check out the full video and see his live reactions over at IGN South Africa.
