LG is set to debut three new UltraGear gaming monitors at CES 2026, featuring true 5K resolution, massive ultrawide sizes, and controversial built-in AI upscaling.
LG is expanding its hardware lineup ahead of CES 2026 by introducing three new flagship UltraGear gaming displays, headlined by a true 5K panel. According to a report from IGN South Africa, the upcoming hardware drop includes a 27-inch MiniLED flat panel alongside two massive ultrawide options measuring 39 inches and 52 inches. These displays target players who want massive screen real estate and high fidelity across both competitive titles and immersive single-player worlds.
Two of the upcoming models feature built-in AI upscaling designed to process visuals locally on the display. LG is marketing the feature as a way to achieve higher resolutions without requiring an immediate graphics card upgrade. Hardware enthusiasts and players pushing heavy frame rates will likely view that claim with healthy skepticism, especially when compared against established software solutions like Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR running directly on the GPU.
As monitors continue to evolve into core entertainment hubs for console, PC, and cloud players alike, hardware manufacturers are racing to find new selling points. While AI integration in displays remains an unproven gimmick for many, the arrival of true 5K options and advanced MiniLED tech shows that raw display performance is still moving forward. We will have to wait for hands-on testing at CES to see if these panels justify their flagship status in a competitive hardware market.
