Lenovo Legion Go Owners Can Finally Preview the Xbox Full Screen Experience on Windows 11

Lenovo Legion Go users can now preview Microsoft's gamepad-friendly Xbox Full Screen Experience on Windows 11, bringing a much-needed console interface to non-ASUS handhelds.

Microsoft is slowly expanding the reach of its gamepad-friendly Windows 11 interface beyond the ASUS ROG ecosystem. According to a recent report by James Archer at Rock Paper Shotgun, owners of the Lenovo Legion Go, Legion Go S, and Legion Go 2 can test out the Xbox Full Screen Experience through a limited preview build. While Lenovo has not locked down a public rollout date, marketing representative Ben Green confirmed that the interface is officially heading to the Legion portable lineup.

Getting hands-on with the preview requires signing up for early access, which deploys a Windows registry update to swap the standard desktop layout for a more controller-oriented launcher. Early testers note that while the interface is a massive improvement over traditional Windows navigation on a small screen, it is not without flaws. The software can still feel sluggish compared to specialized operating systems like SteamOS, and Microsoft naturally leans heavily into promoting Game Pass within the UI. Beyond the visual overhaul, the mode does bring minor background process optimizations, resulting in slight performance bumps in specific titles like Forza Horizon 5.

This rollout might also point toward a much larger strategy for Microsoft hardware down the line. With rumors swirling about future hybrid home consoles capable of handling both native Xbox and PC libraries, a standardized and gamepad-ready Windows interface is a logical foundation. Instead of building an entirely new architecture from scratch, refining the Full Screen Experience for portable PCs could be the quiet blueprint for the next generation of living room gaming hardware. For now, Legion Go users should keep an eye out for the stable release once the preview window closes.
