LEGO has officially announced a 1,911-piece PlayStation building set honoring Sony's original console, launching globally in October following months of community leaks.
LEGO and Sony are officially bringing a piece of gaming history to the brick building world with a new set recreating the original PlayStation. Following months of community leaks and rumors across social platforms, GameRant reports that the 18-plus display model is one of LEGO's largest releases of the year. The set is packed with nostalgic details and hidden Easter eggs that celebrate where modern console gaming really took off for many players.
Identified as product number 72306, the kit contains 1,911 pieces and will retail for $179.99. Once fully assembled, the replica measures over ten inches wide and features a recreation of the classic hardware, complete with a matching controller and era-accurate styling. It is a striking collector piece aimed squarely at the adult demographic that grew up swapping demo discs and waiting through loading screens in the late nineties.
LEGO Insiders will get first crack at the set with early access starting on October 1, ahead of the broader public release on October 4 through official LEGO channels and select retailers. For a generation of players who watched gaming evolve from a niche bedroom hobby into the dominant entertainment medium it is today, this set is a clever nod to the hardware that started it all.
