Sony Pictures and Nintendo have added Sam Neill, Dichen Lachman, and Yvonne Strahovski to the live action Legend of Zelda movie cast, with Lachman confirmed to play Impa.
The upcoming live action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda from Sony Pictures and Nintendo continues to round out its ensemble. Recent reports from Deadline indicate that the late, great Sam Neill will make a posthumous appearance in the film, though details on his specific role are currently under wraps. Neill passed away in July 2026 at the age of 78, leaving behind an incredible legacy that includes iconic turns in Jurassic Park and Peaky Blinders. Alongside this news, Deadline confirmed that Dichen Lachman will portray the loyal Sheikah warrior Impa, while Yvonne Strahovski has joined the cast as an unspecified queen character.
This casting wave arrives right on the heels of the reveal that Uli Latukefu will step into the boots of the series antagonist Ganondorf. They join a growing roster that already features Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda, both officially announced by Nintendo late last year. As production moves forward, Sony and Nintendo have kept official promotional material close to the chest, though persistent set leaks have given fans plenty to dissect across social channels and creator streams.
Adapting a franchise as beloved as Zelda into live action is always a high stakes balancing act. Nintendo and Sony are clearly investing in a talented and recognizable cast to ground the fantastical world of Hyrule for both longtime series veterans and newer generations who discovered the property through Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. As we wait for a first official trailer or a clearer look at the costume design, the sheer star power accumulating around this project makes it one of the most closely watched adaptations on the upcoming release schedule.
