IGN South Africa shares early hands-on impressions of Spiritforged, the upcoming second expansion for Riot's League of Legends TCG Riftbound, highlighting new equipment mechanics and the Fiora champion deck.
Riot Games is continuing to carve out space in the crowded trading card game market with Riftbound, its League of Legends TCG. According to a recent hands-on preview from IGN South Africa, the game is gearing up for its second major expansion titled Spiritforged. As established TCGs like Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana battle for player attention, Riftbound is using this upcoming set to introduce fresh mechanics and shake up the current competitive meta.
The standout addition in Spiritforged is the introduction of equipment cards, which integrate directly with new pre-constructed champion decks. One of the primary focal points of the expansion is Fiora, whose dedicated deck leans heavily into the new Mighty keyword mechanic. A unit achieves Mighty status when its combined health and damage output hits five or higher, making it a focal point for both aggressive plays and defensive positioning.
The new Fiora deck combines the orange Body and yellow Order domains to give players a versatile toolkit. The synergy between token units, stat buffs, and the new equipment type allows players to quickly scale smaller cards into major threats on the board. While global release schedules are still rolling out across different regions, the early meta brewing suggests plenty of room for creative deck building once the expansion lands everywhere.
