Fans of narrative-driven mystery games have a new project to keep on their radar. IGN South Africa recently showcased the official opening movie for Kumitantei: Old-School Slaughter, an upcoming episodic adventure game that blends classic murder mystery tropes with card battling mechanics and a distinct retro anime art style.
The premise leans hard into classic dark mystery fiction by tasking a group of characters with eliminating each other in the name of science. By combining visual novel storytelling with strategic card-based gameplay, the episodic structure positions the title well for players who enjoy bingeable narrative experiences across PC and console platforms.
As studios continue to find creative ways to merge traditional adventure game formats with modern gameplay loops, Kumitantei stands out through its striking visual presentation and high-concept premise. You can check out the full opening movie over at IGN South Africa to get a better look at the style and atmosphere driving this upcoming release.
