Kingdom Hearts PS5 Compilation Brings Major Changes to Trophy Hunting

The upcoming Kingdom Hearts PS5 collection cuts the total number of Platinum trophies in half, bundling major titles under single completion requirements.

The upcoming Kingdom Hearts Collection [1~3] is bringing the massive Disney and Square Enix crossover series to current gen hardware on October 8, but completionists are facing a noticeable downgrade. While the bundle includes six full length adventures, the total Platinum trophy count has been slashed in half from the previous PlayStation 4 versions. Instead of earning six separate Platinum trophies, players hunting for digital bragging rights will only find three across the entire package.

Under the new structure, titles like Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Birth By Sleep Final Mix, and Re:Chain of Memories are treated as downloadable content packs rather than standalone entries. This means players only need to conquer the original Kingdom Hearts Final Mix to secure the Platinum for the HD 1.5+2.5 Remix bundle. Meanwhile, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts 3 each retain their individual Platinum status, keeping some structure intact for dedicated fans.

This trophy consolidation is just the latest hurdle for the collection, following earlier community scrutiny over promotional artwork that Square Enix later quietly revised. As the franchise approaches its twenty fifth anniversary and the eventual arrival of Kingdom Hearts 4, players are weighing whether this native PS5 release offers enough incentive to dive back into the sprawling story, or if the trophy changes make sticking to older hardware the better option.
