Kingdom Hearts 4 has been officially confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the next major action RPG chapter to Nintendo's upcoming hardware.
Square Enix is officially bringing Kingdom Hearts 4 to Nintendo hardware. A new trailer shown during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct confirmed that the long awaited action RPG will launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This announcement gives players their first major look at how the next chapter in Sora's journey will run on Nintendo's next generation platform.
The confirmation of Kingdom Hearts 4 on the Switch 2 marks a notable shift for the franchise. Historically, high fidelity entries in the series required powerful home consoles or cloud versions to run on Nintendo hardware. Having a native version on the Switch 2 suggests that Nintendo's next platform has the performance headroom to handle modern, visually demanding unreal engine titles without relying entirely on cloud streaming.
For players who prefer handheld gaming or want to experience massive narrative adventures on the go, this release broadens the accessibility of the franchise. As we wait for a firm release date, this reveal solidifies the Switch 2 as a serious destination for major third party blockbusters. You can watch the full trailer over at IGN South Africa.
