As reported by Game Rant, musician Kanye West recently rented out LA Sports Cards to treat his children to a private shopping spree. Store owners shared photos of the visit and noted that the rapper is a regular customer who spent thousands of dollars on card packs during the exclusive outing.
The high profile trip lands in the middle of a massive year for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, which continues to drive enormous collector interest. With multiple major expansions dropping throughout the year, including special anniversary sets and rare chase cards, physical card collecting remains a massive cultural touchpoint across generations of players.
While most collectors cannot afford to shut down an entire storefront for a casual weekend haul, high profile shopping sprees like this highlight the enduring mainstream appeal of the hobby. For everyday players opening packs on streaming platforms or hunting for pulls at local game stores, the thrill of the hunt remains entirely universal.
