Ka-Me-Ha-Switch! Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Powers Up for Nintendo's Next Console
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in late 2025, complete with motion controls, so get ready to throw a Spirit Bomb with your actual arm. Just try not to break anything, yeah?
Right, so you know how Dragon Ball games have a knack for either being mind-blowingly awesome or face-palm inducing? Well, *Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero*, the latest in the *Budokai Tenkaichi* lineage, landed firmly in the 'awesome' category back in October 2024. And now, fair dinkum, it's making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 14, 2025, according to Game Rant.
For those who somehow missed the memo, *Sparking Zero* is basically a massive Dragon Ball brawl-fest, letting you relive (or rewrite) your favorite fights from across the entire franchise. We're talking Goku vs. Vegeta, Gohan vs. Cell, even Krillin vs… well, okay, maybe not Krillin vs. *everyone*, but you get the idea. It's got a story mode called Episode Battles and a multiplayer that's proven to be more addictive than Senzu Beans after a Saiyan beatdown.
Reviews were mostly glowing, although some folks reckoned the story missions got a bit repetitive (punching the same dudes over and over? Sounds like Dragon Ball, mate!). Still, it sold like hotcakes, giving Bandai Namco a serious profit boost. Now, the big N is getting in on the action.
The Switch 2 version isn't just a straight port, either. Oh no. They're adding motion controls. That's right, you can now chuck a Spirit Bomb by literally chucking your Joy-Con. Just try not to accidentally launch it at your telly, yeah? Your story progress and unlocked characters will carry over between the original Switch and the Switch 2 (if you happen to have both), but Battle Replays and online battle records won't be making the jump. Bit of a shame, that, but hey, at least you get to Kamehameha with a flick of the wrist.
Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft are still adding characters through DLC, including younger versions of Goku and Vegeta from *Dragon Ball: Daima* and Shallot from the *Dragon Ball Legends* mobile game. So, even if you've already powered through the original release, there's more to look forward to.
Honestly, a year is a bloody long time to wait, especially when the game already exists. But hey, maybe they'll use that time to polish it up even more, add even *more* characters, or maybe even figure out a way to let us play as Mr. Satan without immediately getting one-punched into oblivion. One can dream, can't they?
