The latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen trades explosive action for heavy narrative groundwork, setting up the inevitable chaos of the upcoming Culling Game arc. According to a recent breakdown by Polygon, season 3 episode 5 titled Passion deals with the tragic fallout facing former Tokyo Jujutsu High Principal Masamichi Yaga. Framed by corrupt higher-ups in the wake of the Shibuya massacre, Yaga meets a somber fate while revealing the emotional mechanics behind his self-sufficient cursed corpses like Panda. The episode also explores the backstory of Takeru, a cursed corpse created to help a grieving mother find closure, before pivoting to Yaga's fateful offscreen clash with Kyoto Principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji.
While the heavy exposition hits hard, the second half of the episode shifts focus to the much anticipated introduction of Kinji Hakari. As Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro execute an elaborate plan to recruit new heavy hitters, Hakari steps into the spotlight with an intense obsession with passion that immediately signals a major conflict ahead. For viewers tracking the series alongside its massive manga and streaming communities, this episode functions as a crucial bridge. It connects the deep political corruption of jujutsu society directly to the street level brawls that fans look forward to every week.
As Jujutsu Kaisen continues to dominate the conversation across social spaces and creator streams, structural pacing shifts like this are standard for keeping complex battle shonen narratives grounded. The stage is now fully set for a vicious clash of wills between Yuji and Hakari in the next installment.
