Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 pivots to heavy exposition, revealing Kenjaku's terrifying plan to merge all of humanity in a twist reminiscent of Neon Genesis Evangelion, as detailed in a recent report by Polygon.
Anime adaptations often save their heaviest world-building for pivotal moments, and Jujutsu Kaisen just shifted into high gear with a major exposition drop in season 3. As reported by Polygon in their recent breakdown, the third episode leans heavily into conversation as the core cast gathers at Master Tengen's shrine to unpack the true mechanics behind the Culling Game. Rather than chasing standard villain tropes like simple world domination, Kenjaku's endgame turns out to be far more abstract and unsettling. By exploiting Tengen's current state, Kenjaku plans to merge all of humanity into a singular, boundary-free entity, forcing a twisted version of human evolution.
This grand scheme relies heavily on the fallout from the Hidden Inventory arc and the failed assimilation of the Star Plasma Vessel years prior. Because that vital ritual was disrupted, Tengen's aging process spiraled out of control, shifting his nature closer to a cursed spirit and leaving him vulnerable to Kenjaku's cursed spirit manipulation. It is a classic narrative pivot that reframes past conflicts, including why Kenjaku went to such lengths to seal Satoru Gojo rather than engaging in another doomed fight against a Six Eyes user.
For anyone keeping up with seasonal anime culture and creator-led community discussions, the parallels are hard to miss. The plot bears a striking resemblance to the Human Instrumentality Project from Neon Genesis Evangelion, trading standard shonen escalation for existential dread. It is a bold storytelling choice that reminds viewers why modern anime discourse thrives on deep lore breakdowns, giving fans plenty of theories to dissect while waiting for the next drop on streaming platforms.
