A new animated trailer for John Carpenter's Toxic Commando features music from synthwave band GUNSHIP and highlights the game's retro action-horror vibe.
The upcoming co-op shooter John Carpenter is making waves again with a brand-new animated trailer that leans hard into the aesthetic of the decade that birthed modern horror. Developed as an ambitious action-horror FPS, the game channels classic B-movie vibes while bringing modern first person shooter mechanics to the table. This latest promotional push comes courtesy of IGN South Africa, showcasing a stylish animated short featuring synthwave royalty GUNSHIP.
For anyone following the project, the marriage of Carpenter's signature horror sensibilities and GUNSHIP's atmospheric electronic soundscapes feels like an absolute natural fit. The title has been on the radar of cooperative shooter fans since its initial reveal, promising chaotic horde-clearing action wrapped in neon-drenched nostalgia. By leaning into retro animation and synth-heavy tunes, the marketing team is successfully tapping into the current cultural appetite for vintage aesthetics paired with high-octane gameplay.
As we wait for concrete release details and hands-on previews, trailers like this set a strong tone for the community. Players looking for their next cooperative fix, especially groups who live on Discord voice chats blasting through horde modes together, will want to keep this one on their radar.
