The official trailer for Other Mommy has dropped, showcasing the upcoming horror film starring Jessica Chastain and produced by James Wan.
Horror fans have a new project to track for the autumn season. IGN South Africa recently showcased the official trailer for Other Mommy, an upcoming feature film that brings Josh Malerman's bestselling novel Incidents Around the House to the screen. The story follows a young girl named Bela who connects with a malevolent entity inside her home that mimics her mother. Jessica Chastain takes on a demanding dual role as both the mother and the terrifying manifestation known as Other Mommy, starring alongside Jay Duplass and Arabella Olivia Clark.
Behind the camera, the film brings together heavy hitters in the modern horror genre. James Wan acts as producer through Atomic Monster, while Rob Savage directs from a screenplay by Nathan Elston. Savage previously made waves with his pandemic-era hit Host and the adaptation of Stephen King's The Boogeyman. Malerman, who also authored Bird Box, sees another of his unsettling literary worlds translated into cinematic form.
For communities that follow horror across streaming, theaters, and creator-driven reaction channels, this release shapes up to be a major cultural talking point when it hits theaters on October 9, 2026. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have built a strong track record of generating viral social media buzz around their atmospheric releases, making this a prime candidate for group watch parties and creator watch streams.
