Jackbox Games is turning its classic social deduction party game Fakin' It into a standalone title called Fakin' It XL, complete with new streaming-friendly features and fresh gameplay mechanics.
As reported by Polygon, Jackbox Games is taking one of its most enduring party hits and giving it the standalone treatment. Fakin' It, the social deduction favorite that first debuted inside The Jackbox Party Pack 3 back in 2016, is expanding into Fakin' It XL this fall. While the original game relied heavily on reading physical room vibes and facial expressions, this new iteration is heavily tailored to modern streaming setups, remote game nights, and Discord calls.
According to an interview with Jackbox Chief Marketing Officer Brooke Hofer, the upcoming standalone release will introduce custom avatars designed to clearly broadcast player reactions to remote participants. Alongside the quality-of-life streaming updates, Fakin' It XL brings in fresh mechanics like Emojional Damage and Thumb Luck. These new tasks lean into emoji communication and rapid-fire opinions, forcing the secret faker to bluff their way through awkward scenarios with zero preparation.
Everything that made the original mode a staple for friend groups is still intact, scaled up to support up to eight players per lobby. For content creators and couch-coop fans alike, it is a smart evolution of a decade-old classic. Fakin' It XL launches on November 12, 2026, for Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions following later in the year.
