Invincible creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker are reuniting to write the origin story of Ella Mental, a new character debuting in the fighting game Invincible VS, as reported by IGN South Africa.
Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker are getting the band back together. The original masterminds behind the Invincible universe are teaming up once again to pen an official origin story for Ella Mental, a brand new character making her first appearance in the upcoming fighting game, Invincible VS. As reported by IGN South Africa, this narrative expansion bridges the gap between the comic page and the gaming arena, giving players deeper lore to dig into before they even throw their first punch.
Character debuts tied to new media often risk feeling like superficial roster padding, but involving the original creators changes the equation. For a franchise that has successfully expanded from independent comics to a massive animated hit on streaming platforms, branching into fighting games is a natural next step. It gives the community fresh content to dissect across social channels while cementing the game as a vital piece of the broader Invincible canon rather than a side project.
For players who treat gaming as an interconnected entertainment ecosystem, this kind of cross-medium storytelling adds real weight to the release. We are past the era of tie-in games with throwaway plots. When comic legends step in to build out the roster's backstory, it signals that the fighting game takes its place in the universe seriously. Expect plenty of lore breakdowns and creator interviews to flood your feeds as release day approaches.
