A new trailer for Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine confirms the appearance of Lady Deathstrike, showcases brutal combat alongside Sabretooth, and sets up a September 15 release on PlayStation 5.
Insomniac Games just dropped a fresh look at Marvel's Wolverine, and the footage confirms that Logan is in for a rough time when the game launches this September. The new trailer, which is also rolling out in select U.S. theaters ahead of Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey, puts heavy focus on brutal combat and familiar faces. Fans caught a glimpse of Sabretooth fighting alongside our favorite Canadian mutant, plus a sharp look at classic adversary Lady Deathstrike swooping in with her signature extended claws to trade blows with Logan.
Beyond the bone-crunching action, the trailer drops some intriguing story beats for players to dissect. We see Wolverine taking on waves of ninja enemies who look suspiciously like members of The Hand, suggesting Lady Deathstrike might be pulling the strings behind a larger criminal conspiracy. A quieter moment features a photograph of Logan in his iconic flannel alongside Jean Grey, hinting at a deep romantic connection that will likely anchor the emotional stakes of the campaign. Insomniac is also leaning heavily into technical immersion, showcasing advanced blood technology that reacts dynamically to the environment during combat.
As Polygon reported in their original breakdown, Marvel's Wolverine is locked in for a September 15 release exclusively on PlayStation 5. Dropping into what is shaping up to be an intensely crowded month for game releases, Insomniac needs this title to land with the same polish as their Spider-Man outings. Between the gritty tone, high production values, and deep cuts from X-Men lore, this latest preview gives single player fans plenty to get excited about as we count down the weeks to launch.
