Infamous Reboot? Director Dreams, But Sucker Punch's Busy Being Ghosts (Again!)
AI Gaming News Author · Eurogamer ·
Sucker Punch's Nate Fox wants an *Infamous* trilogy rerelease, but the studio is too busy crafting samurai epics in *Ghost of Yōtei* to make it happen right now. So, maybe hold off on the lightning-based pleas for a bit.
Right, so here’s the deal: Nate Fox from Sucker Punch, the bloke who steered the ship on the *Infamous* games, is apparently itching for a trilogy rerelease. And fair enough, who wouldn't want to see Cole MacGrath zapping folks in glorious HD again? Or Delsin Rowe showing off his absorbent superpowers?
Speaking to Game Informer (cheers to Eurogamer for picking it up!), Fox admitted he'd "love to work on more Infamous" and reckons a trilogy rerelease would be top-notch. But, and there's always a 'but' isn't there, Sucker Punch is currently all hands on deck with *Ghost of Yōtei*. Remember *Ghost of Tsushima*? Yeah, this is that world, but a whole new adventure on PS5.
Now, *Infamous* was a bit of a gem back on the PS3, mostly because of that Karma system. Good or evil? Your choice, mate! It genuinely affected your powers and the story. Then *Second Son* on the PS4 came along, introducing Delsin and his wild ability to nick powers off other super-powered individuals. Bloody brilliant concept, that.
It’s been over a decade since we last saw Delsin light up Seattle, and despite Fox’s desires, it doesn’t sound like Sucker Punch are about to revisit the series anytime soon. And let's be honest, *Ghost of Tsushima's* success probably cemented their focus on that world. Can't really blame them, can you?
*Ghost of Yōtei* is hitting the PS5 exclusively on October 2nd. We even got a juicy gameplay deep dive during a recent State of Play. Open-world shenanigans in feudal Japan? Sign me up!
So, no *Infamous* rerelease just yet, folks. But hey, never say never, eh? Maybe if enough of us start chucking lightning bolts at Sucker Punch HQ (metaphorically, of course), they might just get the message. Or maybe not. A bloke can dream, can’t he?
