PC gamers can claim the indie RPG Orion the Hero for free on Itch.io until August 22, adding the title to their permanent libraries.
PC players looking to expand their libraries without touching their wallets have a new option on the table. Developer Epic Lion Studio has made its 2D role-playing game Orion the Hero completely free to claim on Itch.io through August 22. Once added to your account during this window, the game stays in your library permanently, meaning you do not need to install it right away if your backlog is already overflowing.
Released earlier this year, Orion the Hero leans into classic RPG elements with challenging boss fights, puzzle mechanics, and an atmospheric fantasy setting that pits players against vampires to rescue the Queen of the Fairy Realm. While the indie title launched without a massive public review score, promotions like this offer a low-risk entry point for anyone curious about smaller-scale releases.
Hunting down freebies outside of Steam remains one of the best ways to keep a diverse gaming diet alive without constantly spending money. Independent platforms frequently host promotions for smaller studios that often take creative risks AAA publishers avoid, making these limited-time giveaways a great way to discover hidden gems between major seasonal releases, according to reporting by GameRant.
