Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition Headed to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027

Nintendo announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, launching in February 2027 with enhanced visuals, bundled DLC, and a new difficulty mode.

Nintendo just confirmed that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is making the jump to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The new Definitive Edition arrives on February 25, 2027, bringing major technical upgrades to the Omega Force-developed spin-off. Players can expect a locked 60 frames per second, enhanced visuals, and a massive increase in the number of enemies rendered on screen at any given time.

Originally launched in 2020 as a prequel to Breath of the Wild, this new version bundles the base game with every drop of content from the original expansion pass. That means players get all previous waves of DLC, including new playable characters and weapon types, right out of the box. Nintendo is also introducing a brand-new difficulty setting called Calamity Mode, alongside a digital discount on the eShop for anyone who already owns the original game on the first-generation Switch.

This announcement rolled out during a packed Nintendo Direct that also highlighted the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. As the Zelda franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary, Nintendo is clearly lining up a strong cross-generational lineup for its next piece of hardware. Pre-orders for the Definitive Edition are live now, giving fans plenty of time to gear up for the ultimate version of the hack-and-slash prequel.
