How to Claim the New Mega Garchomp Z in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Polygon details how Pokémon Legends: Z-A players can claim the new Mega Garchomp Z via a fresh Mystery Gift, though unlocking the actual transformation requires the Mega Dimension DLC.
The recent Pokémon Presents broadcast celebrating the franchise's thirtieth anniversary brought a massive wave of announcements, including a fresh Mystery Gift for Pokémon Legends: Z-A players. According to reporting from Polygon, trainers can now grab the Garchompite Z item via Mystery Gift, which unlocks the terrifying new Mega Garchomp Z form. While claiming the initial gift is open to everyone, there is a catch for players looking to complete the process.
To actually claim the reward and secure the new Mega Stone, players need access to the Mega Dimension DLC that dropped back in December. Redeeming the Special distortion detected gift opens a portal in Hyperspace Lumiose, meaning you must travel there and win a battle against the beast itself before adding the stone to your inventory. Once the battle is won, you can hand the Garchompite Z to any Garchomp in your party or boxes to unleash the new evolution mid-battle.
For players deeply invested in the ongoing post-launch content cycles of modern console RPGs, tying powerful new additions to expansion content is nothing new, though it always sparks conversations around accessibility versus platform monetization. If you already own the DLC, this is a straightforward drop to add to your collection. Be sure to check out the original coverage over at Polygon for the full breakdown of how to navigate the Mystery Gift system if you are jumping back in for the anniversary celebration.
