For actors transitioning between massive sci-fi epics and grounded dramatic projects, finding the right balance is everything. Jared Harris, currently captivating audiences as Hari Seldon in Apple TV+ adaptation Foundation, recently shared a career-altering piece of advice he received from Danny DeVito years ago. As reported by IGN South Africa, Harris reflected on the wisdom DeVito passed along while promoting his new digital release Reawakening, a deeply emotional drama exploring family grief and mystery. The legendary actor warned Harris about the toll of letting professional choices dictate personal happiness, a lesson that fundamentally changed how the acclaimed star approaches his roles.
That perspective has clearly served Harris well as he navigates some of the most complex television and film landscapes today. Whether he is anchoring prestige dramas like Mad Men or portraying a mathematical genius trying to save humanity across the galaxy, Harris brings a grounded intensity that resonates with modern viewers. His latest project, Reawakening, pairs him with Erin Doherty and Juliet Stevenson to tell a haunting story about a family dealing with the miraculous return of their long-missing daughter. It is a stark shift from high-concept space operas, proving his range across completely different storytelling mediums.
For fans who follow Harris from streaming heavy-hitters to indie cinema, stories like this highlight the human element behind our favorite screens. As digital distribution makes it easier than ever to jump between massive serialized epics and intimate character studies, actors have unprecedented freedom to curate diverse portfolios. DeVito's advice serves as a reminder that longevity in the entertainment industry comes from knowing what truly drives you.
