Hold on a Sec, Did Someone Just Rip Off 'Date Everything'?
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Someone tried to copy 'Date Everything,' the game where you date sentient furniture, but it sounds like they missed the point entirely and ended up with something... less charming. Let's hope this doesn't encourage a trend of soulless imitators.
Right, so 'Date Everything' dropped, charmed the pants off everyone with its bonkers premise of dating inanimate objects, and now... we've got a copycat? According to Game Rant, a game called 'Flirt Everything Date Objects' has popped up, attempting to cash in on the dating sim's success. But, and this is a *big* but, it sounds less like a heartfelt rendezvous with your toaster and more like awkwardly flirting with cardboard cutouts.
'Date Everything,' for those who've been living under a rock (or, y'know, dating one), is a game where you pop on some magical glasses and suddenly your furniture transforms into dateable people. It's weird, it's wonderful, and it's currently rocking an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam. What makes it work? The charm, the creativity, and the sheer audacity of the idea.
'Flirt Everything,' on the other hand, allegedly throws 14 "human-object hybrid characters" at you, but apparently, they lack the... *je ne sais quoi* of 'Date Everything's' creatively personified appliances. And at a steep $20 (currently discounted to $10), with zero reviews on either PC or Xbox since its July 14th launch? Ouch.
The internet, naturally, is having a field day. Some suspect AI involvement, citing the "odd-looking character designs and awkward dialogue." And here's where it gets truly ironic: 'Date Everything' actually *starts* with the protagonist losing their job to AI! The original devs even had to confirm they didn't use AI due to Steam's new regulations.
But the audacity doesn't stop there! Game Rant points out that 'Flirt Everything' even appears to have pilfered 'Date Everything's' logo. Now, will developer Sassy Chap Games (the creators of 'Date Everything') lawyer up? Probably not, given the apparent lack of buzz around the copycat. Still, you've got to wonder, haven't you?
It's fair to reckon this is just the first of what might be a flood of 'Date Everything' clones. The game's unique appeal makes it ripe for imitation, but as we all know, true magic is hard to replicate. Thankfully, there are plenty of other excellent dating sims out there to scratch that itch, like 'Monster Prom 4: Monster Con', 'I Was A Teenage Exocolonist' and 'A Date With Death'. So, before you go reaching for the 'Flirt Everything', maybe give those a whirl instead.
