Helldivers 2 is launching its Siege Breakers update on February 3, adding explosive hammers, heavy weapons, and a new warbond while teasing the return of cyborg enemies from the original game.
Arrowhead Studios is keeping the momentum going for Helldivers 2 with the upcoming Siege Breakers update, arriving on February 3. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog and reported by Eurogamer, the update brings a brand new premium warbond accessible through Super Credits, featuring a heavy-hitting mix of tools designed to shake up current loadouts. Among the standouts are the returning LAS-16 Trident laser shotgun and the CQC-20 Breaching Hammer, a close-quarters melee weapon that packs a literal explosive charge for players who like to get up close and personal with the enemies of Super Earth. Alongside heavy reinforcements like the GL-28 Grenade Launcher and the high-yield EAT-411 Leveller rocket launcher, the update also introduces the throwable G/SH-39 Shield to help squads hold the line during chaotic extraction moments.
Beyond the hardware, the update's accompanying trailer has the community buzzing thanks to a chilling teaser in its final seconds. Veteran players from the first game have quickly pointed out the unmistakable signs of the original cyborg faction making their return, leaving the community to speculate whether they will arrive as a distinct third enemy faction or integrate directly into the existing Automaton threat. This drop of fresh narrative fuel comes at a busy time for the franchise, following optimization updates that trimmed the game's install size and ongoing development for the live-action film adaptation.
For players juggling battle passes and looking for a reason to squad up this week, Siege Breakers hits all the right notes by balancing fun new toys with compelling long-term world-building. Sony also surprised the community by confirming that Helldivers 2 is landing on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, opening the floodgates for a fresh wave of recruits to join the intergalactic war effort just in time for the new content drop.
