IGN South Africa went hands-on with the newly revealed LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade Machine set at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 ahead of its August 1 release.
Nintendo and LEGO are continuing their run of impressive nostalgic builds with the newly revealed Donkey Kong Arcade Machine set. Following a few weeks of leaks, the set received its official debut ahead of an August 1 release date. IGN South Africa recently got an up-close look at the upcoming physical build during San Diego Comic-Con, showcasing the detailed craftsmanship and interactive elements that modern collectors have come to expect from these collaborative projects.
Over the last few years, this partnership has delivered several intricate builds aimed at adult fans and gaming enthusiasts. From the fully realized NES and CRT television build to The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree and interactive Pokémon sets, Nintendo has leaned heavily into physical merchandise that celebrates gaming history. The upcoming Donkey Kong cabinet fits right into that lineup, offering a tangible piece of arcade nostalgia for players who grew up dropping quarters into classic cabinets.
For modern gamers who treat physical collector items as essential room decor and community flexes, these high-end LEGO releases bridge the gap between retro gaming culture and modern hobbies. The Donkey Kong Arcade Machine drops on August 1, giving builders a fresh project just in time for the late summer release window.
