Halo: Waypoint Chronicles collects over 30 short stories, including a new piece exploring Spartan Agryna's civilian origins during the Battle of Earth, complete with an audiobook narrated by franchise icons.
Halo Studios is expanding the franchise lore with Halo: Waypoint Chronicles, a massive new short story anthology that dives deep into the universe's expansive timeline. Reported by Polygon, the collection features over 30 stories, including about two dozen previously published pieces alongside fresh narratives. For multiplayer regulars who spent countless hours hearing Laurette Agryna guide them through Big Team Battle matches in Halo Infinite, the standout addition is "London Calling," a new story tracing her origins during the chaotic Covenant invasion of Earth.
Penned by Halo Studios franchise leads Jeff Easterling and Alexander Wakeford, "London Calling" shifts the perspective back to the harrowing events of the Battle of Earth, long before Agryna ever donned Spartan armor. The narrative drops readers into a ruined London as civilian Agryna scrambles for cover from patrolling Phantoms, Brutes, and Elites. It is a grounded look at the ordinary human cost of a war that fans usually experience from behind the visor of a supersoldier, adding meaningful weight to a familiar modern multiplayer character.
Beyond the text, Halo Studios leaned into fan nostalgia for the audiobook release by bringing in franchise royalty to narrate. Longtime voice icons Jen Taylor, known universally as Cortana, and Jeff Steitzer, the unmistakable voice behind every multiplayer multi-kill announcement, lend their talents to the project. For a community that treats these long-running multiplayer universes as digital living rooms, dipping back into classic lore with the original voice talent is a welcome touch.
