The ambitious Zagreus' Journey mod for Hades 2 has officially hit 1.0, porting the entire first game into the sequel alongside new boons, narrative beats, and custom progression systems with the blessing of Supergiant Games.
Modding communities continue to prove they are the lifeblood of PC gaming longevity. A massive fan project called Zagreus' Journey has officially launched its 1.0 update, bringing the entirety of the original Hades directly into Hades 2.
Initially turning heads late last year by letting players dive back into Tartarus, Asphodel, and Elysium from the sequel's hub, creator Nikkel Mollenhauer has expanded the scope far beyond a simple nostalgia trip. The full release introduces brand new story beats, fresh cosmetics to customize your underworld lair, and custom gameplay systems that genuinely bridge both titles. Players can access the original adventure by stepping through a portal in Melinoë's crossroads base.
During dialogue sequences, Zagreus takes center stage while Melinoë hovers in the background, keeping the narrative presentation remarkably polished. Beyond the ported content, the 1.0 update integrates clever mechanics like Charon's Tip Jar, which converts unspent gold into Obol points, and Flip The Arcana, letting you spend exclusive mod resources on radically redesigned Arcana cards.
Creator Nikkel Mollenhauer even added custom boons from classic supporting characters, such as an Orpheus boon that grants defeated enemies a chance to fight for you.
