Guild Wars Reforged brings modern upgrades, Steam Deck support, and visual enhancements to the 2005 MMORPG as a free update on December 3, courtesy of ArenaNet and studio 2weeks.
ArenaNet is breathing new life into a classic. The developer has announced Guild Wars Reforged, a massive upcoming update arriving on December 3 for PC via Windows and Steam. Best of all, the upgrade is completely free for all existing owners of the original game, making it an easy return trip for veterans.
The project is a co-development effort between ArenaNet and 2weeks, a studio founded in 2024 by former ArenaNet developers who wanted to revisit the franchise after a 15-year break. This update is designed to bring the 2005 MMORPG up to modern standards without losing the identity that made it a fan favorite.
Reforged packs in a long list of quality of life improvements, including full controller support, enhanced visuals and audio, a built in quest tracker, and official Steam Deck verification. By covering all original campaigns and ensuring modern hardware compatibility, the team is setting up one of the genre's most beloved worlds for a whole new era of players.
